The Raw Food Diet: What is Ayurveda?
You may be thinking what is Ayurveda and what does it have to do with the raw food diet? Ayurveda is a special medicine known to the ancient Hindus. Using their methods with the diet is known to bring greater and added benefits.
Ayurvedic messages are one of the benefits that run along side the raw food diet.
Other ways you can balance Ayurveda with the raw food diet are as follows:
1. Warm oil messages which are performed daily.
2. Calming herbs such as chamomile are recommended.
3. Spices and tonic herbs are beneficial complements to the raw food diet. Spices like ginger, coriander and fennel are recommended.
4. Only consume items that are regulated at room temperature.
5. Slowly drinking hot water after a meal can give the body continual warmth. Adding ginger to the water helps with digestion in between meals.
6. Blending foods will help prevent dryness of foods.
7. If you want to provide the appropriate amount of fatty acids, use organic, extra-virgin olive oil.
8. Consuming a small amount of ginger helps with digestion.
9. If you want to prevent bloating, consuming fennel seeds after a meal help alleviate these conditions.
10. Try resting for 10 minutes after eating before resuming activities. This helps with proper digestion and gives more energy.
Here is a suggested recipe for Ayurveda and the raw food diet.
Raw Veggie Casserole
1. You will need to shred 3 lettuce leaves.
2. You will need to shred in a food processor, up to 2 zucchini’s.
3. You will need to shred in a food processor, up to 2 carrots.
4. You will need alfalfa sprouts, a handful is recommended.
5. You will need small pieces of cauliflower, a handful is recommended.
6. Sliced half of a red bell pepper.
7. A handful of red cabbage chopped.
8. Mix all of the above ingredients in a salad bowl, preferably a large bowl.
9. You will then need about 2 tomatoes, 1 celery stalk, 2 carrots and lemon juice, preferably juice from one lemon.
10. Blend the above ingredients together in a blender.
11. You can then add sesame or sunflower seeds etc.
